Thank you so much to all the parents and families that contributed supplies for my gift. Mrs. Brennan and the students presented me with a beautiful basket today with all the supplies I will need for my own classroom!
The past seven weeks have flown by and I have enjoyed every minute with Mrs. Brennan and all of her first graders.
Last week was my solo week and I wanted to share some of the activities and projects that we completed.
The students have been working very hard on writing stories that include characters, settings, problem, and solution. They also worked hard to include colorful illustrations. When they finished, the students each had a chance to share their work with the rest of the class. Here they are with their books.
In honor of Earth Day, the students wrote poems and painted a plate to look like the earth. The students are learning about nouns, so they brainstormed nouns that have to do with the earth like oceans, mountains, flowers, vegetables and tons more. Then we brainstormed words to describe nouns. Below are pictures of the Earth Day project hanging in the classroom.
Thank you again. It has truly been a pleasure teaching and learning from each and every one of your children. I will miss them dearly.

Sorting words is so much fun!
Here the children are looking at beginning sounds and digraphs. They learned to cut, "swipe" a color, and sort. They did an amazing job.

Scientists in action!
This week we were exploring our new Science unit "Changes". We learned how to separate solids such as salt, gravel, and tissue. We learned how to make a mixture and about evaporation/condensation. We love this Science unit!!
Enjoying a mystery reader
